Polar Explorer Icebreaker is an Arctic tourism company offering unforgettable icebreaker cruises on the frozen Bay of Bothnia in Swedish Lapland. Our international team welcomes guests from around the world and provides guided ship tours, ice-floating experiences and high-quality customer service.

Join Polar Explorer Icebreaker as a Guide Intern and gain hands-on experience in Arctic tourism, hospitality and international guest services. Based in Swedish Lapland, you will work aboard our icebreaker cruises and help create safe, welcoming and memorable experiences for guests from around the world.

Adventure Guide

Your responsibilities will include welcoming guests, conducting guided ship tours, explaining the icebreaker experience, assisting with onboard activities and supporting guests during the ice-floating. You will work closely with our international team and gain insight into all areas of the operation, including customer service, cruise preparation, safety procedures and daily logistics.

The internship also includes social media tasks, such as capturing photos and videos and helping share life aboard the icebreaker with our international audience.

We provide free daily meals and accommodation in a shared room. We are recruiting two interns, and applications from friends who would like to complete the experience together are especially welcome. This is a unique opportunity for adventurous, outgoing students who enjoy working with people in an extraordinary Arctic environment.

About you

  • Comfortable communicating in English and motivated to learn
  • Interest in Arctic tourism and a wish to learn the work hands-on
  • Basic physical strength and the ability to work outdoors in cold weather
  • An outgoing, friendly personality and comfort talking to people
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to contribute across different areas of the operation

No compensation
