La thèse propose une lecture des préfaces auctoriales de Walter Scott, Henry James et Joseph Conrad, ainsi que celles d’autres auteurs britanniques des années 1830-1920, à partir de diverses théories de la communication combinées à une approche systémique. Elle renouvelle l’intérêt porté au paratexte comme objet littéraire.

In this master's thesis we will try to see the evolution of the notion of drug in the USA since the late nineteenth century, relying on the explaining model of Coca-Cola.
This will lead us to show that the notion of drug is still vague and can be enlarged to products such as Coca-Cola.
We will end by focusing on the problem raised up by Coca-Cola today, trying to see if, today, with the passing of time, it could not be considered a drug.
